I went to check out a new place I found Google Earth over the winter, tried to get in in January but the steep sides of the ravine, the ice and snow, and the low water level discouraged me. I found beautiful bedrock in the bottom of creek. I'll post some picks from my phone later. It's a small creek but in four hours of casual panning in an area about 22 ft long and 6 ft wide, I yielded 1.6 grams of gold. Now that's promising. It didn't match the terrain features on my map but after further study, I realized my GPS had me about 86.66 meters downstream of where I wanted to be.
There's a weekend coming soon when Tom V. from Illinois will be down and I'll take him to the spot. I'm going to protect it for now. If I get any super finds I'll post them.
I wanted to go out this past weekend but yard work got in the way. Tending almost 3 acres can be a chore. So next weekend, after the rain we are supposed to get this week, I'm going to make my way down again.
I'll get those photos uploaded and put them in the Photo Gallery.
Hope you enjoy reading about my adventures.
Jeff
