Went to Morgan-Monroe last weekend. Met Lee Trussler from Bloomington. Great prospecting partner. We found some fine gold but nothing notable. I got home with about 20 specks in my snuffer bottle. My wife was excited. She wants to go prospecting and learn as I did...by trial and error.
The basics I learned from a man named Roody (think I spelled that wrong)...he was the first in the Central Chapter to teach me to pan at the March 2000 outing at Jordan Hollow..Morgan-Monroe. I heard he was ill but never heard any more.
I want to hit that spot I blogged about last time. I checked it out briefly before meeting Lee. The sides are really steep and with snow...it would require ropes and some climbing gear to get in and out of the hole from the top side. Looking for another way in.
It's snowing today. Seems like it never stops, Went and got some firewood earlier and now I'm tired. Just relaxing with a hot beverage, some music (Final War- We Speak The Truth CD), and playing with my Rottie.
I'm going to give it another month...then the fever for gold will force me down that holler to find out if there's gold in that creek. If someone wants to be in on the find besides my wife, just let me know. My dowsing says 50oz/ton under the rock flat blocking the creek bed. Just don't know how to get to it.
I'll write more later.
Heavy Pans and stay warm.
